Mission

Create a microsite for the Audi A4 that interests the target group, communicates the brand values and pushes sales of the newest models. A virtual test drive offer that demonstrates speed and high performance.

Implementation

Worldwide
Users can construct their own personal dream route on the microsite with the help of a map application. And maybe win the chance to actually test drive a new Audi on that route. Each route can be supplemented with pictures and facts and the community can rate coolness of the route thanks to a voting functionality. The winning drives were documented with videos, interviews, and statistics both on the site and on Audi TV. A time machine takes the user to the individual locations and a virtual tour takes users through the history of Global Drives.

Crossing borders
A complex Flash application was developed especially for the project that could show clusters and route details on every stage of the zoom functionality. A net based backend system acted as an intersection point for image databases, dealer search, customer data, sweepstakes and the MapPoint Webservice. It is a stable yet flexible system that allows for easy and comfortable generation and management of all content.

World records
The timing for the project was very tight. At times there were up to eight developers working parallel on the website to make the dream come true for clients and web users.

Conclusion

An innovative website that thrives on user's interaction. Implemented using the combined resources of MS MapPoint and Virtual Earth. Data from prospective clients was generated through the sweepstakes. Online ads and e-mails supported the website. It was a technological breakthrough that was honored with the Autovision OTTOCAR Award 2007.
