Daimler AG. Sustainability initiative

Mission

Relaunch of the Mobilekids information site as well as development of a new district in Mokitown: MobileKids was developed in 2001 by Daimler and international experts as a road safety initiative. A focus in content on sustainability is new. The initiative wants to motivate a responsible handling of environmental ressources within the context of mobility.

Implementation

Neue Digitale / Razorfish gave the internationl information site www.mobilekids.de a relaunch in six languages and introduced a new area „sustainable mobility“. With the new design parents, teachers and interested parties can now access all content about the MobileKids world.

A new addition to www.mokitown.de is the focus on sustainability and protecting the environment. The challenge: how to communicate the relevance of the topic environmental protection to children in a fun way. The solution is a new district which is completely based on renewable energy. It has electric cars, solar panel and wind turbines. In „Energy Corner“ everything revolves around the economical use and recycling of energy. Additionally, the children learn the basics of sustaining and protecting the environment with games and moderated chats. Interaction is top priority as this is the only way to enthuse the children about this relatively complex topic.

The idea, concept, desgin and programming of the sustainability initiative came completely from Neue Digitale / Razorfish.

Conclusion

The extended content focus brings the initiative for sustainability to the children in an entertainaing and suitable way. The pixel town Mokitown, part of the MobileKids campaign from Daimler, has thrilled children across the world for over eight years. Over 1.3 million registered users already use the online resource. And thanks to chat moderation in German and English, regular online events and continual updating this success is set to continue.
