Mission

Development of a communication idea to accompany the launch of the game "Monster Hunter Tri". In focus: Experience "the heroes" of the game up close.

Implementation

The universe
Neue Digitale / Razorfish developed a microsite to accompany the launch of the game, in which users can discover three phases built on top of each other. Features are gradually released and the users navigate through a three-dimensional panorama landscape.

The threat
The game was also prominently promoted on the Nintendo homepage. On entering the website a monster suddenly breaks in and takes the user off to the world of Monster Hunter Tri.

The hunt
In order to give the users the authentic feeling of nightmarishly opressive monster hunt, Neue Digitale / Razorfish went a step further. Users can print out a QR code and hold it in front of their webcam. A scarily lifelike simulation of the monster appears. The innovative augmented reality technology ensures that it was a hotly discussed topic in forums and blogs. And thanks to a Facebook integration the feature also spread virally across social networks.

Conclusion

A trilogy spiked with adrenalin and visual opulence is transferred to a virtual medium - and is apparently "touchable" for the user. The world of Monster Hunter Tri is brought to life in the palm of your hand - making the challenges of the game intensively tangible.
