Neue Digitale / Razorfish launches the First Multitouch Application on Windows 7 for Audi
Frankfurt, October 22, 2009 – Microsoft Germany unveiled the Audi Accessories Configurator, created by Neue Digitale / Razorfish (ND/R), to the public at the Microsoft Windows 7 Launch Party in Hamburg. Users can add and configure each Audi accessory – from sport rims to bike racks – on a photo realistically rendered 3D model. Users can freely zoom, pan and rotate an Audi A4 Avant car or view it with different backgrounds, using the interactive touch surface. The configurator can be used collaboratively, by multiple users at the same time.
Neue Digitale / Razorfish, the Frankfurt-based creative agency for digital marketing, collaborated with RTT, 3D technology specialist located in Munich, on the Audi Accessory Configurator for Microsoft Surface. The application was demonstrated at the Windows 7 Launch Event on a 46 inch screen, which was multitouch-enabled through the help of a “dreaMTouch” frame by Citron, an Augsburg based electronics maker. The multitouch controls were made possible through the use of the Razorfish Touch Framework. This makes the Audi Accessory Configurator, not only the first Windows 7 multitouch application on the German market, but also a tool which is hardware independent and can be installed on a variety of multitouch enabled devices.
In contrast to programming for Microsoft Surface, multitouch applications for Windows 7 can be used on any device. This allows for easy use on vertical screens. “Windows 7 allows for new ways to offer interactive product demonstrations. Suddenly, multitouch technology is available to the general public – we can therefore expect to see this technology more often and plan to continue to develop solutions in this arena for our customers, above and beyond the Audi Accessory Configurator,” according to Andreas Gahlert, CEO of Neue Digitale / Razorfish.
